“Kyla” is a painting from Kit Tyson's larger series of Injury Paintings that document real injuries of people she knows. Kyla is an aerialist, one of the most talented and hardworking artists Kit has ever met. This painting memorializes a rope burn she got while rehearsing. Kit wanted to document the intensity she puts into her work and one of the costs that can have. Kit loved the way the burn on her skin mirrored the leopard print of her shirt. Injuries can hold a lot of darkness, but this one came from love and dedication, so the painting is a celebration.
